Pareklisia

Saturday

Today Stitch and I had a quick walk around the lane outside our house, hoovered, washed the floors and headed into Limassol, first we went to the pet shop to pick up a no pull harness, after a few fittings with the lady in the shop we found one small enough for his small frame, we then headed up to Pareklisia to check out the area and have a wander around, it was such a lovely day that we had a lovely walk around the mountain village before heading back to Kolossi and a walk to Alpha Mega the supermarket, we walked the long way around on the way there but on the way back we cut though the houses, on two occasions Stitch sat in the middle of the road and refused to walk, I don't know why at all.  We eventually arrived home having made it in double quick time, well apart from the stops Stitch needed, initially I thought I had worn him out but when we arrived home I fed him, then my beloved and I took him out for a business trip! On the way back to the house we spotted a rabbit, my beloved lifted Stitch over the wall and once he spotted the rabbit he was off, obviously he wasn't that tired he couldn't chase rabbits, he ran around like a feel even after the rabbit had been chased away, the scent on the grass was obviously driving him nuts.

We decided to stay home and our evening was spent playing scrabble, rock and rollllll, chilli was our evening meal cooked by my beloved as I really can't stand the smell of the mince, so my beloved cooked chicken wings for me, but I did have a nibble of the chilli and quite liked it so I had a bowl of chilli and some chicken wings, I'm hoping that the smell of the mince is just this particular batch and the next time I buy some it will be nicer...

Sunday

Today is carnival day and after a late breakfast we headed into town, the streets were heavy with bodies all dressed up in fancy dress outfits, when we eventually arrived at the start of the parade the noise was deafening and poor Stitch was not impressed, we meandered through the minions, past the pirates and trotted by Fred and Wilma Flintstone, the floats were all decorated and each float had it's own music, it was noisy and colourful and a really great show, unfortunately as the crowds increased along the street Stitch had to be carried as I feared for his life, we had our picture taken by a gentleman who fell in love with Stitch, we took pictures of the children and some of the crazy adults, the man dressed as a woman on the back of a motorbike winked at me whilst raising his glass in a toast.
The parade began it's slow procession along the street and the pavement pedestrians squeezed through the narrow area between cafes and roadside until eventually we had to move to a side street as we just could not get through the throng. We came across a lovely cafe on one of the side streets which gave us a view across the small park and onto the parade, we watched the crazy people of Limassol pass us by, children in buggies dressed as ladybirds, adults jaunting along dressed as arabs and punks and red indians it was a lovely sight to see and all the time whilst sitting supping coffee.

We eventually made our way back to the car and headed up to Pareklisia for a walk around the village, we happened across a bistro sitting in the side of the mountain and the view would have been spectacular had the funny fog still been lingering, from there we wound our way around the narrow streets of Pareklisia missing a head to head by a bus only because he had the foresight to toot as he was coming around the blind bend, we chatted with an amicable young man outside the fish taverna who informed us this was his fathers business and he and his brothers all worked there as waiters, he gave us their card and told us to look them up on google, he also informed us of their opening hours and I do believe we will be making a visit there very soon.

From Pareklisia is was back to Kolossi and the roast beef which had been in the slow cooker since the previous evening, it was delicious and melted in your mouth, roast potatoes and veg and of course the mandatory nose hair burning horseradish sauce, after supper I had a quick facetime with Lou Lou, luckily the internet was behaving then it was off to the Buccanneer for a beer or two, we met up with Natalie and Angelos and a pleasant evening unfolded until it was time for us to leave, we headed to Natalie and Angelos' for a slice of carrot cake for which they need a new recipe, and a coffee, the carrot cake was a first attempt and they were none to pleased with the result, Natalie and her daughter Athena had googled a recipe but didn't like it at all so now I'm on a mission to find them a good old carrot cake recipe.

Planking and press ups at stupid'o'clock in the morning was not something I wish to do again, but it was more about correcting and educating than exercising, so Athena can now go to school armed with the necessary tools to whip those boys in the gym, and Natalie will now be able to do a plank without hurting her back.
