Cone Head

My poor doggie, his wound looked just awful this morning so as soon as was polite I phoned the vet and made an appointment for 10.15am, I put more Iodine fluid on the wound and it was a waiting game until our appointment.  We drove into Limassol and sat in the waiting area of the vet with a bundle of fluff that was apparently a dog, white and poofed up it looked more like cotton wool, it sniffed at Stitch who was sitting on the chair next to me, and Stitch stuck his nose in the air with all the grace of an aristocrat who's subject was beneath contempt.

When it was our turn the vet called us into his parlour and preceded to turn Stitch onto his back, bad move as that is one position Stitch will not go into, even as the vet tried Stitch's lower body squirmed and turned over, so it was a case of holding his head semi turned with his shoulders whilst the vet took a look at his cut, the cut turned out not to be his scar which we thought had burst open, but was in fact a cut on the opposite side of his neutering site, the vet asked if he had cut himself on wire and I had to say I had no idea, I have wracked my brains trying to think how this cut happened and still I have no idea, but it is a nasty old cut and about half an inch long, the vet cleaned it up and then stuck a needle in each back leg and told us to come back on Tuesday had it not healed, but it was the cone that was then placed on Stitch's head that was the hardest thing to witness, my dog has now turned into a plonker! And a plonker with no peripheral vision, as we left the vet he walked straight into the door frame and when I took him into town and sat him on a chair in Starbucks he promptly fell off, the poor wee chap is completely disorientated.

After a while it was time to head home and on route I stopped to let Stitch have a walk, so funny seeing a dog try and pick up a stone whilst wearing a cone, he kept hitting the ground with the cone and jumping backwards startled by the full stop he had come to, you don't realise how much movement a dog has in their shoulders until you see them with a cone hat, he looked like he was mincing, all he needed was his nails painted and he would have looked quite the gayest dog in the village.   We took a walk over the Kouris Dam it was very beautiful looking out across the water towards the Troodos, the water was such a beautiful blue and my iPhone camera does not do it justice, but having forgotten once again to take my camera the iPhone was the best I could do.

When we arrived home I gave Stitch one of his toothbrush chews and it was so funny to watch him trying to eat it with his cone on, especially when he dropped the chew down inside his cone and almost had a fit trying to get it back out, when he did eventually get it to drop to the floor he then had to work out how to get it back in his mouth, it took a while.....

Our evening was spent with Ioanna and Alex, that is three nights in a row we have been out for supper, my beloved has asked if he can get a sandwich in his bed tomorrow as he is tired!!!! We picked up Ioanna and Alex and headed for Chesters for our supper, it was really busy and we had to sit on the bar for a while until they could find us a table, eventually just as the food arrived a table became available and we moved across, our meals were huge and the only person who had a manageable sized portion was my beloved, he was also the only one that managed to clear his plate, Ioanna took home her uneaten chicken for Cory so nothing was wasted, we had a lovely evening and arrived home sometime around midnight, my beloved was nodding in the car all the way home and I was getting a very sore elbow, Stitch was walked for the last time and then it was time for some Z'ssssssss.
