2 C's

Stitch and I had a walk around the fields trying to avoid picking up any ticks, Stitch that is not me, yuk I don't walk in long grass round here for fear of being bitten by 1/snakes 2/ticks and 3/anything else of a gross nature, Stitch on the other hand has me to protect him, I'm not so sure he would protect me, he would probably just run away and hide..

I left Stitch at home today as I was meeting with friends for coffee and just for a change it was in Starbucks, I arrived a little late as having forgotten the car needed filling and the purse was empty all these things needed rectifying before leaving Kolossi, getting petrol when it's the weekend is always daunting, usually there is an attendant ready to assist all drivers needing a refill but they finish work Saturday afternoons and don't come back till Monday how inconsiderate of them, so I had to master the machine at the pump firstly by trying my best to change the language to English, then adding my card and being told I could spend up to €60 which was rather nice of them, the car only takes €45 at most. By the way it has just taken me 5 mins of google time to find out how to write the euro sign, I love my mac but god sometimes it can be frustrating. Anyway getting back to the coffee, Alex and Ioanna were already at Starbucks when I arrived and firstly I was given a white rose for National women's day, then I was given a gift which in Romania signifies the beginning of spring.

Mărțișor (Romanian) is an old Romanian custom at the beginning of Spring, talismens are given on March 1st, it is believed that the person who wears it will be strong and healthy for the year to come, after the month the talisman is tied to the branches of a fruit tree, red and white are complimentary colours present in many key traditions of Daco-Romanian folklore, and the string holding the talisman can be red and white or black and white or blue and white. The name comes from the string with which the gift is tied, it is worn by both men and women, but given to women it also signifies fertility as a means of life and continuity.

Having not seen Ioanna and Alex for quite some time we had quite a few things to catch up on, their we dog Cory was also in attendance and although initially there was a rain shower the sun soon reappeared and warmed us up, after quite some time sitting, chatting and catching up it was time for goodbyes with the promise of meeting up again real soon, Ioanna like myself misses her friends back home so we always have a chat about friends and family that we miss, whilst we were chatting her grandmother called from back home in Romania and then I listened as Ioanna regaled me of her grandmothers previous evening out drinking champagne with the local politicians as election time is due again.

Three hours later I arrived back to a friendly welcome from Stitch, and a clean house always a boost, I took him out for a stroll then for the rest of the afternoon he and I sorted through google looking for the best TV and internet providers in Cyprus, there are two choices and plenty of expense.

Poor Stitch had another tick thing again so I got rid of that sucker and set light to it in the grate, why did I have to get a dog with short legs, I'm sure dogs with longer legs wouldn't have this problem, obviously the ticks are hardy little suckers round here as the tick and flee repellant appears to be working in reverse...

The 2 C's, coffee and clippers - yes we have three jars of coffee and no I didn't remember the clippers last week, so this week I have to make an effort to get clippers, we are talking the hairy kind and not the  feet kind, my beloved is complaining his hair is getting in his eyes.............
