A long walk was decided on this morning and we planned our route which would lead us to Kolossi castle on the back roads from our house then we would take the main road on our way back, this is to try and get Stitch better acquainted with noisy traffic, so we set off from the house with Stitch off the lead we walked along the track to meet a road which could only be called a Z road, because it's not A and definitely not a B road, My Beloved had already warned me that there would be no off roading today as he had shoes and not trainers on, he is the same when I'm in the car, how are you supposed to discover your area if your not a little adventurous, I like off road driving it's how I found the back road into our house, anyway I deviated and not just in my typing so we walked along the back of the house and eventually after a small double Z road ended up at the castle, me and my two boys, one who is snuffling along the ground discovering new treats and one who is checking out all the fruit on the trees, testing each and everyone he can reach for plumpness and smell, one of which he did pick and use for a ball for Stitch this little orange was so hard it didn't even smash when thrown into the air and it crashed to the floor.
We live in an area surrounded by citrus plantations, the smells are beautiful, we have many, many oranges, satsumas, grapefruits and today on our walk we even found a kumquat tree brimming with fruit, the smell was delicious I didn't pick them but have decided to go back under the cover of darkness and steal a few, well although it wasn't in someones garden it was in fact out the front of their house and I would hate to be know as a stealer of Kumquats, well not in daylight anyways.
We walked around the back of the castle and through the streets, I discovered a little cafe at the castle I hadn't even seen before and will be going back for coffee sometime, we continued on our travels until we ended up at the backside of Kolossi and headed back through the village, this time Stitch was on the lead, he is getting better but still doesn't like the noisy traffic, still playing musical statues with big lorries and motor bikes but he is coming to heel a lot quicker now, we walked on until we came to the a little patisserie, I knew it was there but had never been close enough to look in, so today we stopped off and ordered two Frappes and a slice, now I would tell you what the slice was but I'm not actually sure myself, what I can tell you is it was lush, a filo pastry case with what I can only describe as a cross between vanilla custard and apple filling, covered in a mountain of icing sugar, we looked like a couple of coke heads sniffing and licking that stuff off, I tried turning mine upside down to eat it with more decorum and just ended up with icing sugar on my chin. The owner of the patisserie was chatting with us and asking about Stitch, and telling us about his own dog who is around 9 years but behaves like a 3 year old apparently, I have no idea what that would be like as the only three year olds I remember had two legs, and threw tantrums or worse followed me to the toilet asking 'what you doooing' der!
After the frappes we headed back home off road again, two things happened and thank god My Beloved was with me for the first, although the second could have ended very badly had it not been for the quick thinking of the human. Firstly a big old male dog came running out of his yard (gates open) My Beloved picked Stitch up double quick, and was just about to boot the dog when it's own drove up and started talking to it, just as we had started walking away and put Stitch on the floor, bear in mind the poor thing still has stitches from his snip, a truck was driving past and a huge beast came from the passenger seat straight across it's human and tried to get out the window which was open by the way, luckily it's human's arm shot up and pushed the beast back across the seat, I have no idea what I would have done had it come through the window, well I do I would have screamed and cried and screamed with Stitch sitting on my head, did I mention I don't like big dogs, I'm sure I must have.
We made it back home unscathed and Stitch virtually collapsed on his bed, it was a hell of a walk for a dog with no legs. French onion soup was made for my lunch, My Beloved ate the left over curry and I didn't even fight him for it. Later in the afternoon I was out in the back garden and was minding my own business when I saw what I initially thought was a queer looking dog with long ears, turns out it was the neighbours pet goat who preceded to attack the neighbours washing line, it was quite funny to watch until Stitch came out and then ran the length of the fence trying to figure out how to get into play with the goat, now I know that he would have run a mile had he got within ten feet of the goat but no he was all big man from behind the fence, eventually we had to go get him as he was not leaving that goat, we have now had to block the garden so he can't get over their and make a nuisance of himself with the goat, the neighbours have a seating area which is quite close to their fence and a yappy dog does not make for a relaxing seat.
We decided to stay home tonight and went shopping for supplies, this would include wine and cheeses, blue for me just for the crack as My Beloved hates it, I love when he comes for a kiss and hasn't realised I have eaten some because once it hits his nose his face turns puce, I do the same with olives haha, oh yeah and celery!
Tomorrow I will be taxi driver as My Beloved will be collecting the Pajero as a friend has loaned up one until we decide what we are doing about transport, should we buy or should we hire?
